Traffic Detour in Union Square (update)

Detour Routes (click for details, PDF)

Suggested Detour Routes (click for details, PDF)

Underground utility relocation construction for the future Union Square/Market Street Central Subway station is set to begin on Monday. Traffic traveling south on Stockton Street during utility relocation activities will be directed to use alternative routes.  The detour routes are available to help guide you through the area.

There will be one lane open on Stockton Street between Geary and O’Farrell streets for the duration of construction. All private vehicle traffic are encouraged to use one of the two suggested detour options for vehicles heading south on Stockton Street from the Stockton Tunnel that will utilize turning at Sutter or Post streets. Please note that all businesses will continue to be open during construction and pedestrians will have access along Stockton Street.

Here is a written list of the two detour options as you head south after exiting the Stockton Tunnel:

Option 1:
1. Turn right at Sutter Street
2. Take the second left onto Mason Street
3. Turn left at Eddy Street
4. Turn right on Cyril Magnin Street
5. Continue across Market onto 5th Street
6.Turn left on Folsom Street
7. Right on 4th Street

Option 2:
1. Continue onto Stockton Street
2. Turn left at Post Street
3. Turn right at Montgomery Street
4. Slight left at New Montgomery Street
5. Turn right at Howard Street
6. Left on 4th Street

There will be construction activity for the next sixteen months on Stockton Street between Post and Market streets and on portions of adjacent side streets including Geary, O’Farrell, and Ellis.  Construction will be halted during the holidays between Thanksgiving and New Years. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause and advise vehicle drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion. We encourage those affected to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and this blog to receive current updates and construction news. For more information or questions regarding the detour, please contact External Affairs Manager Brajah Norris at 415-701-5263.

Hi mate, I just read this post and there’s quite a bit of useful info which is great, but I’ve gotta let you know your site was way down in the rankings on Google. I’ve been using this plugin for WordPress which has really helped me drive more traffic to my own blog – WP Authority Links Plugin which you can get at http://bit.ly/1zu5uRT
