Noise levels: The generators at the construction site on 420 4th Street have been running 24/7 for the past few months. The noise levels at this site average at 95dB throughout the day and night.

According to CDC – NIOSH, exposure to noise levels over 85dB for continued periods of time may cause hearing loss. At 95dB, that exposure needs to be as little as 45 minutes. (http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/docs/98-126/pdfs/98-126.pdf Table 1-1)

By the Occupational Safety Act of 1970 (Public Law 91-596), the employer is liable for any hearing loss that result from noise levels that exceed these recommended levels.

If you’re living in the 94107 zip code, and develop hearing loss within the next five years, these noise levels may well be the cause.

I second my concern regarding noise levels. The generators are very loud and are causing me sleeping problems. How long are they expected to continue?
